Chartered Student Organizations

Student fees that you pay in addition to tuition go towards supporting the six chartered student organizations - ASUH, BCA, BOP, CCB, GSO and SAPFB. Chartered Student Organizations (CSO) serve the UHM students and the UHM community through a variety of programs and services.

ASUH

Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi

ASUH is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're interested in serving undergraduates as an elected executive officer or senator. As an elected representative, you become an active member of an organization that advocates for improving the quality of student life.

BOP

Board of Publications

BOP is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're interested in serving on a 14-member board that governs UH Mānoa student publications: Ka Leo O Hawai'i--the student newspaper; Hawaiʻi Review--the student literary journal.

  • Hawaiʻi Review
    Hawaiʻi Review is a program area that operates under the authority of the Board of Publications. Joining the Hawaiʻi Review staff is for you if you are interested in learning the necessary skills to putting together a college literary journal. Students have been publishing a literary magazine for the UHM campus since the 1960s.
  • Ka Leo O Hawaiʻi
    Ka Leo is a program area that operates under the authority of the Board of Publications. Involvement with Ka Leo is for you if you are interested in working on the daily campus newspaper as a writer, designer, photographer, editor, or advertising sales representative or manager. Students have been publishing a newspaper for the UHM campus since 1922.

BCA

Broadcast Communication Authority

BCA is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're interested in serving on a 9-member board that governs the student-run campus radio station, KTUH-90.3 FM, and the Student Video and Filmmakers' Association (SVFA).

    KTUH is a program area that operates under the authority of the Broadcast Communication Authority. Involvement with KTUH is for you if you're interested in writing and reporting; being an on-air personality; learning how to produce or engineer shows; handling the accounts, the music library, the station's promotions; managing the station and its directors.
  • UH Productions
    UH Productions is a program area that operates under the authority of the Broadcast Communication Authority. Involvement with UH Productions is for you if you're interested in producing video and filmmaking projects.

GSO

Graduate Student Organization

GSO is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're a classified graduate student in a program other than Law or Medicine and are interested in serving other graduate students. As an elected representative, you become an active member of an organization that advocates for improving the quality of student life.

CCB

Campus Center Board

CCB is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're interested in serving on a governing, policy-making board for the programs, services, and facilities of Mānoa's college union facility, the Campus Center Complex. The 14-member board serves its constituents - students, faculty, staff, and alumni - in two ways: through a multifaceted activities program via the Activities Council and the Leisure Program and through an array of services in the Campus Center and Hemenway Hall.

  • AC - Activities Council
    The Activities Council is a program area that operates under the authority of the Campus Center Board. Involvement with the AC is for you if you're interested in planning and implementing campus activities. As one of Mānoa's main programming bodies, AC enriches the campus social life and the educational experience through concerts, speakers, special presentations, as well as a variety of cultural, social, recreational, and academic programs.
  • Rec Board
    The Recreation Board is a program area that operates under the authority of the Campus Center Board. The Recreation Board plans and implements sport and physical fitness activities for the campus community.

SAPFB

Student Activity and Program Fee Board

SAPFB is one of Mānoa's 6 CSOs. It's for you if you're interested in serving on an 11-member board that makes recommendations to the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs regarding the allocation of the student activity and program fees that support event and projects created by student clubs and organizations and UHM departments and programs.
