UHM Facilities Management
Frequently Asked Questions
- Question: How do I report a problem or request work to be done?
Answer:
- EMERGENCIES. If the problem is an emergency (a situation where there is potential and/or actual risk to health and safety of personnel or disruption to security or regular operations), please call 956-7134 between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays) or 956-6911 (Campus Security) after regular business hours.
- ROUTINE OR NON-URGENT: If the problem is not an emergency, you must determine if it is a Facility Routine Repair Service, or a Department Charge Back Renovation Service.
Once you have determined the type of service you desire, complete and submit a Service Request Form (available from your department’s administrative or clerical sections---and soon to be on-line), and provide the necessary information based on the instructions for the type of service you are requesting.
- Question: How can I check on the status of my request?
Answer:
Presently, a customer may call the Work Coordination Center (WCC) 956-7134, to inquire about the status of his/her request. In doing so, please be advised that WCC handles approximately 14,000 service requests annually, and will try to respond to such queries in a timely manner.
NOTE: The University System is presently soliciting information from vendors to provide a Facilities Management System that will, among other things, computerize the Service Request system. This will allow individuals to submit a Service Request and receive a Service Request number that will allow the requestor to track the status of the request on-line. This system may be a few years from realization, but the CSC is presently attempting to create a Service Request Form that will allow “cradle to grave” tracking of a request with emphasis on keeping the requestor informed of the status of the request.
