UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES AT UH MĀNOA

UH Mānoa is proud of its classification by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University, with "very high research activity". We are one of only thirteen universities designated as a land-, sea-, and space-grant research institution. The National Science Foundation ranks Mānoa among the top 30 public universities, and 49th overall among public and private universities, in federal research expenditures for engineering and science.

Mānoa offers a wide range of opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in research and creative activities.  Opportunities include participation in traditional research projects, anthropology field studies, annual business competitions, fashion shows, and internships.  The Inventory of Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunities provided below describes opportunities available throughout the year for undergraduate students to engage in research and creative activity.

In addition, most programs offer courses designed to introduce students to research methodologies and expectations in their specific fields.  The Inventory of Research Courses Offered in Undergraduate Programs provides a list of these courses.  In addition, student participation in research is encouraged through directed research courses offered by most majors.
