University of Hawaiʻi programs and people from across the 10-campus system will be featured on local radio and television stations beginning this week as the new academic year begins. After a summer hiatus, the radio program "UH Today" on KKEA 1420-AM begins this week, and a new program called "UH On The Move" also begins this week, which includes 60-second segments that will be shown during regular KFVE and KHNL programming as well as during UH sports events.

The radio program "UH Today" is a live, weekly call-in radio program on KKEA 1420-AM on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. The program will be hosted by UH Acting President David McClain and UH West Oʻahu Professor Dan Boylan. McClain and Boylan will host UH faculty members and other guests, and will discuss a range of topics. Listeners interested in calling in to the show can call (808) 296-1420.

"UH On The Move" is the newest addition to the university‘s slate of broadcast programs. The 60-second segments featuring a variety of people and programs from all campuses of the university system will air twice weekly during primetime (5-10 p.m.) and twice during the 5 a.m.-5 p.m. timeframe. Longer versions of selected segments will air during UH sports programs.

"UH On The Move" segments scheduled to air this fall will feature Kauaʻi Community College‘s rural development program that teaches DOE custodians on the Garden Island additional on-the-job skills; Honolulu Community College‘s use of PDAs (personal digital assistants) to help diagnose a car‘s ailments; UH Mānoa Engineering Professor Lloyd Hihara‘s corrosion study; the unique partnership between Honolulu Community College‘s fire science class and the Lyon Arboretum; UH Mānoa Horticulture Professor Jim Brewbaker and his more than four decades of work perfecting corn; and UH Mānoa Professor Paul Nachtigall‘s hearing test techniques on marine mammals.

In addition to "UH Today" and "UH On The Move," the university also produces a number of other broadcast programs that air statewide. "Discover UH" is a partnership with KITV that features short segments on the "spirit of discovery" at UH and airs at various times during KITV programming. "University Report" highlights UH people, events and programs through 60-second radio spots that air on radio stations across the state including KKEA 1420-AM on Oʻahu; KUAI 720-AM, KQNG 570-AM, KQNG 93.5-FM, and KSHK 103.3-FM on Kauaʻi; KAOI 1110-AM, KAOI 95.1-FM, and KDLX 94.3-FM on Maui; and KPUA 670-AM on the Big Island.
