"One on One" with UH President Dobelle Announces its 2004 Play Schedule

HONOLULU — "One on One," a University of Hawaiʻi and PBS Hawaiʻi cooperative production featuring host UH President Evan S. Dobelle, began its second season schedule on PBS Hawaiʻi this month. The weekly show will air on Thursdays through the rest of May on local PBS channels at 7:30 p.m. After its May programming, the show will go on hiatus in June and return in July.

Shows scheduled to air on "One on One" this month include:

· May 20: One on One with Michael Shapiro — Author, distinguished professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

· May 27: One on One with Ian Wilmut — Professor and head of the Department of Gene Expression and Development at the Roslin Institute in Scotland.

Shows that aired earlier this month included guests James MacGregor Burns, Pulitzer prize-winning professor, and Susan Dunn, renowned professor and author. Future guests this season include Alan Arkin, Tony award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor; Pat Mitchell, president and CEO of Public Broadcasting Service; Ed Lu, NASA astronaut; and Haig Mardikian, prominent Armenian businessman and philanthropist owner.

"One on One" is a cooperative production of the University of Hawaiʻi and PBS Hawaiʻi, featuring distinguished authors, actors and scholars who are visiting Hawaiʻi as guest speakers for the university and other organizations. The show originally started in fall 2003 with Paul Costello, former UH Vice President for External Affairs and University Relations, serving as host.
