Jenna Friedman, JD, has been appointed a Gender Equity Specialist in the Office of Gender Equity within the UH Mānoa Office of the Chancellor.  Previously a Junior Specialist in the Office of Gender Equity, she will continue to serve as an advocate for students, faculty and staff on issues including gender or sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual or domestic abuse and violence, and stalking.

Said Friedman, “I’m looking forward to continuing my work as an attorney and advocate for our campus community members who are impacted by discrimination, harassment and abuse.”

The Hawaiʻi Kai resident obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UH Mānoa and her law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law.  While studying for her JD, she worked in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office in the Family Violence and Sexual Assault unit, served as a volunteer court advocate for domestic violence victims obtaining orders for protection, and was a Research Assistant in the Office of Gender Equity at UH Mānoa.

Upon obtaining her law degree, she became a family law and immigration attorney at RISE Law Center for End Abuse Wisconsin, a nonprofit center serving immigrant victims of abuse.  Following that position, she returned to Hawaiʻi and was employed as a program manager at the Domestic Violence Action Center in Honolulu.
