Participants will develop objectives toward improved environmental stewardship and greater cost-savings through efficient use of resources in areas such as energy, water and waste management, food systems and curriculum. The discussion will also include other higher education colleagues at Hawai’i Pacific University, Brigham Young University--Hawai’i, and Chaminade University.

The two-day conference aims to produce a UH System policy document on sustainability, and provide an opportunity for campuses and the community to share insights and best practices on sustainability.

Guest speakers include Leith Sharp, Chair of the Sustainable Futures Academy and Harvard Sustainability Instructor; Kamuela Enos, Social Enterprise Director at MA’O Organic Farms; Matthew St. Clair, Sustainability Manager at the University of California Office of the President; and UH President M.R.C. Greenwood.

Gold sponsors of this event are Hawai'i Energy, Hawaiian Electric Company and Johnson Controls.  The event is also made possible by the efforts of the UH Office of the Vice President for Community Colleges.

About 10 exhibitors will also be on hand with the latest information on sustainability in higher education and posters and presentations will be shared by experts from across the state.
