President M.R.C. Greenwood and the university leadership have reviewed the testimony submitted to the Senate Committee on Higher Education by Mr. Dennis Mitsunaga and are aware of Mr. Mitsunaga's serious allegations. The university will conduct a full investigation and take any appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.

The Board of Regents and President will discuss the allegations and investigation in detail at the board's meeting this Thursday, February 21, in Hilo.

The university leadership first became aware of Mr. Mitsunaga's allegations through his testimony last Thursday. Senator Donovan Dela Cruz, Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, Government Operations, and Housing, wrote to the university that evening to request an immediate investigation, and the university responded on Friday morning confirming that an investigation will be conducted. Copies of those letters are attached. The university has also contacted the Office of the Attorney General to request its assistance with the investigation.
