HONOLULU--The University of Hawaii at Manoa will host a special speakingengagement by Michael D. Capellas, chairman and chief executive officerof Compaq Computer Corporation. This is a unique opportunity for UH studentsto hear from an executive of one of the world's leading global providersof technology and solutions.

Capellas will speak at UH on Wednesday, May 9 at 9:00 a.m. in the ArtAuditorium. The lecture is free and a continental breakfast will be availablefor those who arrive early.

In an interactive "town hall" meeting format, Capellas intendsto engage the audience in a discussion of the issues, opportunities andchallenges that today's students face as they enter the new economy.

Capellas joined Compaq in 1998 as chief information officer and plannedand implemented the transformation of the company's information systemsto capture the opportunities and meet the demands of the Internet era. Hewas appointed CEO in July 1999 and elected chairman of the board of directorsof Compaq in September 2000.
