The Shidler College of Business at the UH Manoa campus has appointed the former Managing Partner of Ernst & Young, Larry Rodriguez, as an Executive-in-Residence for the Fall 2012 semester.

Most recently, Rodriguez served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Central Pacific Financial Corp./Central Pacific Bank.

The Shidler Executive-in-Residence program gives students, alumni and faculty the opportunity to learn and work with a prominent business leader. Rodriguez will serve as a guest lecturer and share his experience and knowledge.

"I'm honored to participate in this program and am very excited to share my professional experiences with everyone at the College," says Rodriguez. "I hope to use practical examples to motivate and inspire students."

Rodriguez was with Ernst & Young for 40 years. He served 29 years as partner and over 15 years as managing partner of the Hawaii practice. His 40-year career in the accounting profession included serving companies in the financial services, healthcare, airlines, retail, hospitality, real estate and insurance industries.

In addition to his work in audit-related matters, Rodriguez also provided services that covered taxes, internal control system evaluations, and other operational activities for local and mainland companies with global locations.

While at Central Pacific Financial Corp./Central Pacific Bank, Rodriguez assisted with the Corporation's recapitalization. Today, Rodriguez operates his own consulting firm to help organizations in Hawaii with financial, organizational and other business matters.

Rodriguez is involved with many local charities and community groups; he serves on the boards of Sennet Capital, Ho‘okele Health Innovations LLC, and Tissue Genesis Inc.

"We are fortunate to have Larry join us at Shidler," says Vance Roley, Dean of the Shidler College of Business. "Not only will he bring a wealth of knowledge to the College from his many years of experience in the financial and accounting sectors, but he will also help us expand and deepen our relationships in the local business community."

Rodriguez received a BS in accounting from California State University, Los Angeles, and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.

In 2007, Rodriguez established a $300,000 endowed scholarship at the Shidler College of Business' School of Accountancy with current Ernst & Young's Managing Partner Terri Fujii.
