The Honolulu Chapter is one of 17 chapters of the national non-profit women’s ARCS Foundation.  It was founded to advance science and technology in the U.S. by providing awards to academically outstanding American citizens studying to complete degrees in science, engineering and medicine. Since 1974, the Honolulu Chapter has awarded over $1.7 million to more than 600 doctoral candidates in these fields at UH Manoa. In addition to the scholar awards, the chapter annually recognizes a faculty member as scientist of the year.
