Students in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) will join students in the College of Engineering (COE), as they jointly participate in the 24th annual Student Research Symposium. It will be held this Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, in the Agricultural Science Building on the UH Mānoa campus.

This year’s competition will feature 125 posters and oral presentations from undergraduate and graduate students. It will feature research from all six departments in CTAHR, and presentations by undergraduate students in the COE.

Friday, April 13 - Poster Presentations
Students will be standing by their posters from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Agricultural Science Building, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors

Saturday, April 14 - Oral Presentations
8:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Agricultural Science Building, 2nd floor

The annual CTAHR symposium provides students with the opportunity to present their scholarly work in a friendly, yet professional, setting similar to national and international conferences. It also serves to promote cooperation and collegiality among CTAHR and COE faculty and students.

“The scientific exploration and engineering design conducted by students in CTAHR and COE are truly multidisciplinary, and the Student Research Symposium reflects this diversity and the growing relationship between CTAHR and COE,” said CTAHR Dean Sylvia Yuen. “All stages of the research and development process and all types of student learning experiences are represented: discovery; advanced diagnostics and laboratory testing; design, validation and field testing; and adoption of new methods and technologies.”

Added Engineering Dean Peter Crouch, “Each project represents a unique path that contributes to CTAHR’s mission by fostering viable communities, a diversified economy, and a healthy environment, as well as to COE’s mission by providing research experiences and opportunities to students that will enhance the growth of the technological workforce and stimulate the growth of technology-based industries in Hawai‘i.”
