Fourth Candidate for UH Law School Dean Announced

Allen K. Easley has been announced as the fourth candidate in the search to fill the position of dean of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa‘s William S. Richardson School of Law. Easley is currently a professor of law and associate dean at Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas.

A forum where Easley will give a presentation and answer questions from the public is scheduled for Friday, February 7, at 4 p.m. at the School of Law, Classroom 3.

Easley joined the faculty of Washburn University in 1979 and has served as associate dean at the university‘s School of Law for the past 12 years. He teaches in the area of Civil Procedure and Federal Courts, and has written primarily in the area of Federal Courts. Easley received his law degree from the Temple University School of Law in 1974.

Easley has been actively involved in work with the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), the American Bar Association (ABA), and the Law School Admissions Council. He is the vice-chair of the ABA‘s Questionnaire Committee, which is charged with drafting and reviewing the various questionnaires used by the ABA in the accreditation process, and was recently elected to a three-year term on the AALS Executive Committee, which is the association‘s governing board.

Easley is the fourth candidate for the position of dean at the School of Law to visit UH Mānoa. Three other candidates — Sylvia A. Law of New York University, Aviam Soifer of Boston College Law School, and John Yukio Gotanda of Villanova University — visited UH Mānoa and held public forums last week.
