The UH Mānoa Center on Disability Studies joins VSA Hawai‘i and the Hawai‘i Department of Health in sponsoring a exhibit, which features artists selected for their traditional and unique ways of bringing images to the surface of paper, each working with various methods of subtraction and addition.

Artists Angelo Demello, Solina Wilhelm, Sonya Woodard and Ronald Depontes will showcase their work in the exhibit, “SURFACING: Explorations on Paper,” which runs until June 16 at the Gallery on the Pali in the First Unitarian Church located at 2500 Pali Highway (cross street is Niolopa Place; u-turn okay on Jack Lane).

The four artists come from completely different approaches, but all work as if their health and life depends on it. Each artist is emerging, rising to the surface and survives through their vehicle of expression – marks on paper.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Gallery on the Pali.
