An exhibit kicks off at UH Mānoa's Hamilton Library on the subject of preventable damage to library collections entitled, It Came from the Stacks!!! The purpose of this exhibit is to raise awareness among all library users and staff about the value of library materials. The exhibit shows the consequences of mistreating materials and demonstrates how everyone can work together as a community to care for and preserve them.
This exhibit is a part of a larger national preservation week campaign spearheaded by the American Library Association, Pass It On, happening April 24 through April 30, 2011. During this campaign, libraries across the country will be participating and holding their own events to help connect library users with preservation tools and strategies.
The exhibit will run from April 24 through May 21 and is located in the 1st floor Elevator Gallery. The exhibit is open to the public during building hours: http://library.manoa.hawaii.edu/about/hours.html.
