North Hawaii education center announces spring lifelong learning courses

The North Hawaiʻi Education and Research Center (NHERC) in Honokaʻa has unveiled its spring schedule of lifelong learning classes. The facility, located in the former Honokaʻa Hospital building, is part of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and offers both credit and non-credit classes open to the public.
 
Courses typically last from three to six weeks and are moderately priced.
 
The non-credit courses that begin in February and their respective starting dates are:
  • Backyard Astronomy, Graham Knopp, 7- 8:30 p.m., Feb 4
  • Beginning Ukulele, Keoki Kahumoku, 3:45-5 p.m., Feb 5
  • Slack Key Guitar, Keoki Kahumoku, 5:15- 6:30 p.m., Feb 5
  • Introduction to Excel, Chris Clarke, 6:30-8 p.m., Feb 5
  • Self Defense (Women), Zerlina Young, 5- 6 p.m., Feb 10
  • Introduction to Golf, KC Botelho, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Feb 17
  • Basic Grant Writing, Jeani Navarro, 9-3 p.m., Feb 20
