The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is inviting students of all ages, especially juniors and seniors in high school, and their parents to The Mānoa Experience 2009, a morning-to-lunchtime open house spotlighting academics, campus activities and student services on Saturday, October 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For the first time, the campus-wide open house will be held in a festive, fair-like setting, with live entertainment by Kapena and Mailani, prize drawings from Rainbowtique, and food for sale, with staffed informational tents lining McCarthy Mall.

The free and family-friendly event is UH Mānoa’s premier on-campus academic showcase of the year, and will feature academic open houses by all schools and colleges, and tours of the campus and residence halls led by current students.  Interactive, entertaining, and informative sessions will provide a glimpse into Mānoa’s various degree programs and majors.

“We’re truly excited to welcome future students and their families to our campus, so they can discover the many reasons to select UH Mānoa as the destination of choice for their college experience,” says Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw.  “The Mānoa Experience’s brand-new, festival-like setting will be both an informative and fun way to highlight the many learning opportunities offered by Hawai‘i’s UH Mānoa ʻohana.”

Adds Vice Chancellor for Students Francisco Hernandez, “This event will enable participants to meet with faculty and students from various departments at their desired school’s or college’s open house, and attend the academic and student services fair, where they can learn about student life on campus.”

To register, go online to Mānoa.Hawaiʻi.edu/admissions/manoa_experience.html.  Free parking will be available in the visitor parking structure for registered participants.
