LĪHUʻE, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi - Kauaʻi Community College will celebrate the successful completion of the much-needed Simulation Skills Laboratories and classroom facilities for its Nursing Program in the college’s Health Education Division with a blessing today in the Nursing Program complex.

With enrollment soaring at the Kauaʻi campus, the college is pleased to complete and open these new classrooms for study and use by students beginning this fall semester.  Kauaʻi CC welcomed 1,344 students to the campus this semester, which is an increase of 22 percent over last year.

The blessing will be conducted by Reverend Wayne A. Vidinha, Sr., of Ke Akua Mana Church and will be presided over by Chancellor Helen Cox, Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs Gary Nitta and Health Education Division Chair Char Ono.  Kauaʻi CC faculty, staff and students, along with guests from the community, including the Honorable Mayor Bernard Carvalho, will take part in the ceremony.

The Simulation Skills Laboratories replicate true-to-life hospital settings, where students can practice health care and services. One laboratory is set up for adult care and the other is set up for infant care. Each lab is equipped with mannequins that talk and breathe, simulating real-life patients, and allow students to practice blood pressure and heart rate monitoring, as well as other health care procedures.
