Windward Community College presents Tech Talk 2008 conference featuring job training for high-growth and emerging industries

KĀNEʻOHE, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi The latest technology and advanced communications resources keep business and commerce thriving around the world, but navigating this sea of innovation can be challenging. Windward Community College has partnered with the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training to present Tech Talk 2008, a one-day event for Hawaiʻi‘s residents to learn more about the innovative training, products and services available today in high-growth and emerging industries.

The exhibition conference will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hale Akoakoa Building on the Windward Community College campus. The event is free and open to the public. Ample parking is available on campus.

Tech Talk 2008 offers one-stop shopping for those looking for short-term training or degree programs in the areas of transportation, aerospace, biotechnology, computer technology, construction, education, financial services, health care, hospitality, information technology, media arts and design, and sustainable industries. The conference is especially designed for managers, business owners, teachers, counselors, students and parents, and will help people to keep informed about the current trends in training and services that are available in Hawaiʻi.

In addition, more than 20 free presentations and workshops are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis, on topics ranging from iChat Video Conferencing, WordPress Blogging, Google Docs, Garage Band, Online Career Explorations, Organic Agriculture, Digital Media Workflow for Educators, Future of Information Technology, Inappropriate Use of Technology in the Workplace, and much more.

Those in attendance will also be able to take advantage of campus tours and visit various programs around the Windward Community College campus for information sessions and demonstrations, and participate in door prize drawings for Apple iPod Nanos (8GB), flat screen monitors, and much more.
