Seeing Birth of a Star with the Naked Eye

ʻImiloa Astronomy Center‘s monthly "Maunakea Skies" evening planetarium program will be hosted by Shawn Laatsch, planetarium manager, on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. as he takes guests on a live tour of the current night sky. The evening‘s guest speaker will be Dr. Josh Walawender from the Institute for Astronomy, who will be focusing on newborn stars and their nebula neighbors. ʻImiloa Astronomy Center is a part of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

The "Maunakea Skies" planetarium series is held on the last Saturday of each month. The monthly program is presented in ʻImiloa Astronomy Center‘s 120-seat planetarium at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for ʻImiloa members and $8 for non-members.
