Alexander & Baldwin grant funds VITEC Small Business Development Training Series at Maui Community College

KAHULUI, Maui, Hawaii — Maui Community College‘s Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET) — VITEC is pleased to announce the receipt of a $15,000 grant from the Alexander and Baldwin Foundation to support the popular A&B Small Business Training Series for a third consecutive year. Because of the A&B Foundation‘s generous support, the series has provided training in areas such as customer service, sales, and workplace communication skills to hundreds of small businesses on Maui.

Many small businesses are not able to provide additional training to their employees because of the high cost. The A&B Small Business Training Series is offered for a nominal fee and workshops are held in several convenient locations.

According to OCET Director Lori Govaars, "Our participants have told us they found these workshops to be packed with useful information and very valuable to their employees. They also appreciated the convenient workshop locations, which meant their employees didn‘t have to spend much time away from the workplace to attend."

Upcoming classes starting this fall will be offered in Kahului and at the new Maui CC Lahaina Education Center. Course topics and a schedule are currently being developed.
