HONOLULU — In support of the 2006 Aloha United Way (AUW) Oʻahu Campaign, the University of Hawaiʻi has organized a softball charity tournament at the Les Murakami Stadium from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29. Teams from each Oʻahu campus and one from the system will go to bat in support of bettering lives within our community.

The event and parking is free to the public and AUW will be accepting donations throughout the game in support of its campaign which began on September 5 and ends on October 13.

"This is a great opportunity for the campuses to gather for a fun and competitive event and help make a difference in the community," said Jim Nishimoto, AUW leader for the UH system. "I encourage the university community to come out, enjoy the game and join the University of Hawaiʻi in support of the Aloha United Way."

"We are always grateful to the University of Hawaiʻi for its support," said AUW President Susan Au Doyle. "The softball game is a great idea and we appreciate the hard work of our three UH Chairs, Peter Quigley, James Nishimoto and Andrew Hashimoto, and everyone involved in this year‘s campaign."

Each team will be comprised of 10 players. A total of eight teams, two from UH Mānoa, and one each from UH West Oʻahu, Honolulu Community College, Kapiʻolani Community College, Leeward Community College, Windward Community College and the UH System Office, will compete. The eight teams have been randomly assigned to either the 4-team Mauka or the Makai Conference as follows:
