HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi has announced the selection of five development teams that will be invited to submit proposals for the On-Campus Student Housing project at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The submitted proposals will be evaluated by the university, and one developer will be recommended to the UH Board of Regents for approval in April 2005.

On January 21, 11 development teams submitted Statements of Qualifications in response to the Request for Qualifications issued by the university for the project. Based on these submissions, the following development teams were selected:· Actus Lend Lease LLC of Honolulu, teamed with Allen & O‘Hara Development Co., LLC of Memphis, Tenn. (a subsidiary of Education Realty Trust, recently listed on the New York Stock Exchange);

· American Campus Communities, an Austin, Texas-based company listed on the New York Stock Exchange;

· KUD International LLC, through its Honolulu office, teamed with Capstone Development Corp. of Encinitas, Calif.;

· Mānoa Student Housing, LLC (consisting of EAH University Communities, a nonprofit public benefit corporation, and Student Housing Partners); and

· Students First Campus Communities (composed of Omaha, Neb.-based America First Companies and Kiewit Pacific Company, Inc.) teamed with Leo A. Daly, Inc.

The developers have formed teams with well-established construction, architectural, financial and other firms from Hawaiʻi and the mainland. Over the past three decades, these developers have built more than 100,000 beds in student housing projects at colleges and universities throughout the country.
