Welcome to the Mānoa Writing Program, administering writing intensive courses at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. In addition to first year composition, undergraduates at the university are required to take five writing intensive courses (W) to graduate. In a typical semester, over five hundred W courses are being offered across 40+ disciplines. Oversight of these courses belongs to the campus W Board, comprising a dozen faculty and advisors who review applications for course designation and assist faculty in attaining approval.

Tabbed pages support Faculty and Students as they are engaged in these courses or preparing for them. Our (Inter)National page links to national and international sites in writing across the curriculum (WAC) and writing in the disciplines (WID); it also includes a list of W courses at UHM in languages other than English. Our Resources tab serves students primarily, through its links to sites on campus and online to help them perform in W courses. Our Community page bolsters connections with our local and virtual communities by featuring semester-by-semester courses that include practicums, field experiences, or internships. It also includes a page on which UH Distinguished Alumni reflect on the role of writing in their lives and offer suggestions to students.
