Sherwood Lab Publishes New Article Naming a New Species of Mesophotic Algae after Zoology Graduate Student Josh Copus
Spearheaded by Alison Sherwood's lab, the newly published article "Biodiversity of Hawaiian Peyssonneliales (Rhodophyta): Sonderophycus copusii sp. nov., a new species from the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands" names a new species of mesophotic algae from ~300 ft. at Kure Atoll in memory of Josh Copus. Copus took part in two of the three dives when these type specimens were collected.
