Arts & Sciences Reorganization
Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw has initiated a discussion on what type of organizational structure will best support the goal of academic excellence for the programs in Arts and Sciences and the School of Pacific and Asian Studies. The heart of the university is centered in in these programs, creating a need to resolve pending questions of reorganization to allow these programs to move forward. There will be many opportunities to provide input on this issue and the thoughts and ideas of faculty and staff are critically needed at every step.
There are many models for the organization of the core academic enterprise, and none of them is perfect. The important step in this exercise is to select a model and move on; we can always make additional changes later.
