Professor Brewbaker

Jim Brewbaker, PhD
Professor of Horticulure & Genetics

For more than 40 years Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources (CTAHR) Professor Jim Brewbaker has been instrumental in sustaining the $80 million a year corn industry in Hawaiʻi.

Brewbaker, along with his students, developed hundreds of corn varieties and hybrids. Kahuku corn, or super sweet #10, now grown throughout the world, can be traced back to his fields at CTAHR's Waimanalo Research Station.

Brewbaker's research is published in 250 articles and five books. He was also a past recipient of the prestigious International Inventors Award.
